Bryant makes University of Oregon winter Dean's List

Medical Lake's Kristina Bryant was one of 520 students who made Eastern Oregon University's Dean's List for the 2016 fall term.

Qualifying students achieve and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while completing a minimum of 12 hours of graded coursework for the duration of the term.

Communities in Schools seeks mentors for Cheney and ML

Communities in Schools is looking for committed adults in the Cheney and Medical Lake school districts to become mentors for its after school Primetime Mentoring program.

The time commitment is one hour per week.

There are two upcoming training sessions for prospective mentors:

• Jan. 19 at the Fairchild Air Force Base education center from 5-7 p.m.

• Jan. 26 at Hallett Elementary School from 5-7 p.m.

Community meeting at Sunset Elementary rescheduled

The community engagement meeting, scheduled for Jan. 9 at Sunset Elementary School, is rescheduled for Jan. 19 at 6 p.m. due to school closure and weather conditions.

The meeting will consist of information concerning the upcoming bond proposal and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.

An additional community engagement meeting is scheduled for Cheney High School, Jan. 17 at 6 p.m.

Second Harvest's Mobile Food Bank to stop at CHS

Second Harvest's Mobile Food Bank will be making a stop at Cheney High School, Jan. 18 from 2:30-4 p.m.

Those who attend will receive a free box of fresh and non-perishable food items.

No identification is necessary and parents are encouraged to attend. Patrons are asked to bring their own box or tote bag.

'Scabland' exhibition coming to EWU Gallery of Art

The Eastern Washington University Gallery of Art will host Jenene Nagy's "scabland" exhibition from Jan. 26-Feb. 23.

Nagy will give a lecture, Wednesday, Jan. 25 at noon in room 116 of the Art Building. Following the lecture there will be a reception in the gallery.

The EWU Gallery of Art is located in the Art Building situated in the center of the Fine and Performing Arts complex on the Cheney campus. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
