Eastern Downtown Student Gallery hosts Gendron 'WHIPLASH' exhibit

The Eastern Washington University Downtown Student Gallery is hosting artist Ric Gendron and his “WHIPLASH” exhibit until Dec. 17.

Gendron, an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, was born on the Colville Reservation in Northeastern Washington and grew up in Coulee Dam and Spokane. He is best known for his vibrant acrylic paintings. His work is a mixture of traditional images and dances melded with American rock and pop culture.

Gendron’s work has been exhibited in galleries, museums, and group across the United States. He is actively involved in the Santa Fe Indian Market and the Heard Museum Show in Phoenix.

“WHIPLASH” will feature paintings from Gendron’s 30-year career. An artist’s reception will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 15 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. Gallery hours are Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
