CHS four compete at junior nationals Four Cheney High School track athletes competed in the USA Track and Field National Junior Olympics July 25-31 at Sacramento State University in Sacramento, Calif. Pictured are (left to right) Charles Johnson III, Alsatta Bakana, Peyton Putney and Garrett Hagel. The quartet competed with the Spokane Speed Academy along with athletes from all around the Spokane area. Johnson and Hagel were part of the 4x100 meter and 4x400 relay teams. The 4x100 placed 10th while the 4x400 made it to finals, placing seventh. Johnson and Hagel received All-American medals for placing in the top eight.
Game times for all 11 Eastern Washington University football games have been set, including all five home games at Roos Field.
Eastern's home opener on Sept. 17 against Northern Iowa will begin at 4:05 p.m. and be televised live regionally by SWX. Eastern's home game on Oct. 1 versus UC Davis will be televised by ROOT Sports, and will start at 1:05 p.m. The following week Northern Colorado visits "The Inferno" with a 1:05 p.m. kickoff time in a game also broadcast by SWX.
