Cheney High School graduating senior Shayla Payne was awarded the P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) STAR scholarship for the 2016-17 academic year.
The scholarship is a $2,500 award based on excellence in leadership, extracurricular activities, community service, academics and potential for future success. Payne was recommended by P.E.O. Chapter AJ of Cheney.
Payne has been accepted and will attend the University of Washington in the fall. She plans to study biomedical engineering.
