Cardinals losing grip on volleyball postseason

Following an 0-2 week in Northeast A League volleyball play the season is slowly coming to a close with the postseason slipping from the grasp of Medical Lake.

The Cardinals lost 3-0 at Deer Park Oct. 13 by scores of 25-14, 25-20 and 25-22 and then 3-0 at home to Lakeside, 6-25, 10-25 and 10-25 last Thursday, Oct. 15.

“We lost a pretty tough one to Deer Park and as always Lakeside was a tough opponent,” Cardinals’ head coach Kari Knowlton said.

Taylor Fritz led the Cardinals in a list of statistical categories with kills (8), aces (5) and digs (5) while Mollee Gray had nine assists versus Deer Park. Against Lakeside, Claire Dormaier had 10 digs.

In falling to 1-9 in NEA play and with matches remaining, the Cardinals need to try to make up for lost ground in rugged outings against Newport (6-4, 7-5) Oct. 20 and on the road at Freeman (10-0, 15-0).
