Alumni dinner to help raise money for high school FFA club

It’s going to be a night of music and fun at the Cheney Rodeo Grounds.

Cheney Future Farmers of America Alumni Association is having their third annual dinner and benefit auction, Oct. 3. All proceeds from the event will go toward the Cheney High School FFA.

Walt Netz, of the Cheney FFA Alumni, said the association works with the high school, attending meetings and helping students with tasks such as livestock judging. Netz said the group started the dinner two years ago as a way to help pay for Cheney FFA students to attend state and national conventions. Last year, the FFA Club used proceeds from the event to pay for two students to attend a national leadership conference in Washington D.C.

“Those students came back with a lot of inspiration and we felt it was money well spent,” Netz said.

In addition to raising funds for trips, the dinners also provide money for scholarships.

The event is for people 21 and over and doors open at 5 p.m. with dinner starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Cheney Feed and Tack or from Netz at (509)995-3028.
