EWU's Taylor earns Big Sky defensive award

After an impressive weekend between the pipes, junior goalkeeper Mallory Taylor has been named the Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Taylor, a transfer from Hastings College, made her Eastern debut this past weekend as the Eagles opened their 2015 campaign with back-to-back 2-1 victories at UTEP and New Mexico State. The Nova Scotia native made six saves against the Miners last Friday, Aug. 21, before stopping seven shots versus the Aggies on Sunday, Aug. 23.

“Mallory was very solid in both games for us,” said EWU head coach Chad Bodnar. “She kept us in both games, and made two huge saves against New Mexico State. She’s been a great addition to our program and has fit in very well. We’re excited for her. It’s a great way to start her career at Eastern.”
