Holm named new CMS assistant principal

Cheney Public Schools has announced that Eli Holm has been selected as assistant principal at Cheney Middle School.

According to a news release, Holm most recently served as dean of students and athletic director at Sequoyah Middle School in the Federal Way School District. Prior to that, he worked as a sixth- and seventh-grade teacher and administrative assistant at Surprise Middle School in the Fife School District.

Holm received a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from Central Washington University in 2004. In 2006, he completed his master’s degree in education at Pacific Lutheran University, where he also completed his principal certification in 2012.

School district officials said Holm impressed the hiring committee with his knowledge of middle school philosophy, his positive attitude and his interest in developing strong partnerships with the Cheney community in support of CMS students.

“Over the years, I have had multiple opportunities to demonstrate my integrity by supporting those around me,” Holm said in his application letter. “I have done so through communicating clearly and often with staff, remaining consistent and fair through the discipline process, and showing empathy and a readiness to work with the community.”

Holm begins his new position in August. He replaces Nicole Nanny, who recently accepted the position of Teaching and Learning Director for Cheney Public Schools.
