Churches

Cheney United Church of Christ

All are welcome to participate in our worship and church activities. To make it more convenient for parents of wee ones, the nursery and changing table have been moved into the Sunrise room, which is the nearest classroom to the sanctuary. When babies and toddlers need a quiet room, their parents needn’t take them outside to the Christian education building any more.

As usual, pastor David Krueger-Duncan will lead the Sunday worship service in the sanctuary at 10 a.m. and music director Kate Sloan will lead the congregation in singing one of the hymns.

Remember that the retirees’ luncheon was renamed “Lunch Bunch,” so that everyone who is free on Thursday at noon, June 11, may participate in the potluck meal.

For your contemplation: “Every moment and every event of every person’s life on earth plants something in his or her soul. For just as the wind carries thousands of winged seeds, so each moment brings with it germs of spiritual vitality that come to rest imperceptibly in the minds and wills of men and women. Most of these unnumbered seeds perish and are lost, because we are not prepared to receive them: for such seeds as these cannot spring up anywhere except in the good soil of freedom, spontaneity and love,” New Seeds of Contemplation, Thomas Merton.

United Methodist Church

Please join us for worship this Sunday, June 14. Worship begins at 10 a.m. Pastor Alissa Bertsch-Johnson will continue a sermon series on the book of Acts.

The annual spring tea is Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. with a theme of “Aprons and Appetites.” Deanne Wilfong will be the guest speaker talking about smooth transitions, the art of downsizing. The history of aprons will also be shared. Tickets are $5.
