Cory Wagner pitched a 10 strikeout, five-hit complete game and Hudson Petek delivered single in the top of the sixth that scored two runs to lead Medical Lake past Lakeside 3-1 in a first-round, loser out game in the District 7 1A tournament in Suncrest.
The win moved Medical Lake (9-12) into the double-elimination round where they played at Northeast A League champion Freeman, May 13 and win or lose face an as yet to be determined opponent Saturday, May 16 at Freeman.
The win over the Eagles was the first this season for the Cardinals. Lakeside committed seven errors, including three in the decisive sixth inning.
