Rosa's Pizza hangs on for West Plains Little League play win

Rosa's Pizza ran their record to 4-2 with a 6-4 win last Friday night over Cheney Free Press in West Plains Little League Majors Division action at Medical Lake's Waterfront Park.

Rosa's Anthony Aguilera tripled to right centerfield in the top of the second inning to open the scoring, bringing home Brent Keith and Jalijah Meacham for an early 2-0 lead, and later scoring on a wild pitch. In the third, Karl Barsness singled to center to score Carson Jeffries, and eventually came home to score to put Rosa's up 5-0.

Cheney Free Press finally got on the board in the bottom of the inning on Jakeb Vallance's single to right, scoring Charles Gerber, and scored when the next batter up, Logan Hooe, doubled to left. Tyler Ashcroft led off the fourth with a walk, and Curran Moore dropped a single just inside the left field line to give Cheney Free Press two runners on with nobody out.

Both Ashcroft and Moore advanced to second and third and eventually scored before Keith, in relief of Barsness, fanned Vallance for the final out. In the fifth, Rosa's got an insurance run when Barsness singled and Keith brought him home on triple to center.

Cheney Free Press had one last rally in the bottom of the inning, loading the bases on Hooe's lead-off single, Jamel Chabot being hit by a pitch and a one-out walk to Moore before Keith ended the rally with a strikeout of Dyllan Deatherage and groundout by Cheyne Pella. Keith set Cheney Free Press down in order in the sixth to close out the game.

Cheney Free Press drops to 1-4 in league play.
