Spokane County Superior Court selected for new system

SPOKANE — Washington state’s Administrative Office of the Courts announced Oct. 22 that the Spokane Superior Court has been selected as one of only two counties to begin the statewide rollout of the “Odyssey Case Management System” in 2016.

According to a news release from the county, the announcement by Callie Dietz, State Court Administrator, congratulated Spokane for its selection and thanked the court for its enthusiasm and willingness to serve as the first statewide rollout implementation site.

In a letter to Presiding Judge Sam Cozza, County Clerk Tim Fitzgerald, and Court Administrator Ron Miles, Dietz indicated that Snohomish County would begin implementation in May, 2016 and Spokane County would follow a few months later. Cozza welcomed the decision, saying “the current statewide case management system, SCOMIS, is a legacy system developed more than 36 years ago. It was not designed to handle the volume or the complexity of today’s modern court.”

The vendor for the Superior Court Case Management System (SC-CMS) Project, Tyler Technologies, Inc., will schedule time to meet on-site in Spokane County with the court’s leadership team within the next several weeks. Superior Court’s leadership team includes Superior Court judicial officers, Clerk’s Office employees, court administrative employees and staff from the Information Systems Department.
