Kaufman signs with B.C. Lions

Former Eastern Washington University All-America wide receiver Brandon Kaufman agreed to terms with the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League on June 3 and joined the team immediately at its preseason training camp, now underway in Kamloops, B.C.

Kaufman was released by the Buffalo Bills, May 16, after spending part of the 2013 on that team’s practice squad.

At B.C., Kaufman will join two other former Eagles, rookie T.J. Lee III and 10-year CFL veteran Ryan Phillips on the Lions roster.

Forgette joins Ottawa CFL team

Former Eastern All-America offensive guard Steven Forgette confirmed, June 5, that he is headed for the Canadian Football League for a free agent opportunity with expansion franchise Ottawa. Forgette said he will sign a contract with the Red Blacks. Training camp is taking place on the campus of Carleton University in Ottawa. They play their first preseason game on June 20 at Montreal.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Forgette earned second team All-Big Sky Conference honors as both a junior and senior, and was an honorable mention All-America selection in 2012.
