Deadlines for submitting West Plains Briefs is noon Monday. Briefs should be under 100 words if possible. Briefs may be edited for length.

Cheney Farmers Market

The Cheney Farmers Market is now open. The market is open every Tuesday from 2 – 7 p.m. from now until Sept. 23 in the City Hall parking lot. There will be plenty of fresh, local produce along with handmade arts and crafts.

Baumgartner meet and greet

Sixth District state Sen. Mike Baumgartner (R-Spokane) is holding an open public “meet and greet” breakfast meeting Thursday morning, June 19, at 8 a.m. The meeting will take place at Rokko’s Teriyaki, 506 First St. where a light breakfast will be provided.

Baumgartner will discuss issues taking place in the state Legislature as well as his re-election campaign against Democrat Rich Cowan.

Meeting at Washington State Veteran’s Cemetery

Anglers and hunters are invited to attend a town hall meeting at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, Friday, June 20, from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. to discuss ideas on how to solve the problem of trash on waterfront property south of Espanola Road. This is to help keep the area open to the public.

Lefevre Street closure

The city of Medical Lake will be closing Lefevre Street between Herb Street and Brooks Road, June 21, from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. for the Medical Lake Founder’s Day parade.
