Everett named Lilac Teacher of the Year

Medical Lake High School teacher Ann Everett was selected as one of the Lilac Teachers of the Year by Spokane Teacher’s Credit Union (STCU) and the Spokane Lilac Festival Association. Everett was nominated by MLHS senior Majestic Tschabold, one of the princesses of the 2014 Lilac Court.

Everett first met Tschabold four years ago in her career choices class. She said Tschabold had a set of goals and she promised to help the student achieve them.

“But she didn’t need much of my help,” Everett said. “She accomplished all of her goals. To receive this honor from her is so humbling.”

In the speech about Everett, Tschabold wrote that her teacher gave her hope and confidence to achieve her dreams.

“She has and always will be one of the greatest inspirations in my life,” Tschabold wrote. “She has watched me create myself and has been there to help me find my strengths and passions as a leader.”

After receiving the award, Everett attended the “All City-Civic Military Luncheon” with Tschabold.

“We embraced the moment,” Everett said. “It was such an honor to share that with her.”

Everett, along with the other teachers, rode the Spokane Lilac Festival float during the Armed Forces Torchlight Parade.
