Cheney wins Girls Division state bowling title

The Cheney High School girls bowling team won the Girls Division state championship at the Washington State Bowling Proprietors Association tournament Feb. 16-17 at Acme Bowl in Tukwila.

The Blackhawk girls, juniors Lexi Lessard and Summer Mae, sophomore Rebekah Hagreen and freshmen Michaela Ebert and Sarah Pierson and coached by Mark Dixon, scored 45.4 points with a 3,069 pinfall, ahead of the Chalet Tigers in second and Renton third.

The Blackhawk boys, juniors Justin Oens, John Ross and Chance Gleave, sophomore Raymon Schlotman, freshman Zach Arias and coached by Rich Oens, placed fifth in the Boys Division III with 34 points, 7,844 pinfall. Lynnwood captured the division’s state championship with 48 points, 8,064 pinfall.

Justin Oens was named to the Boys Division III 2013 WSBPA All State First Team with an average of 201. Hagreen and Ebert were named to the Girls Division 2013 WSPBA All State Second Team with averages of 155 and 150.

Finally, boys coach Rich Oens was one of four varsity coaches inducted into the WSPBA Coaches Hall of Fame.
