EWU libraries will celebrate children

Celebrate Dia! (Children's Day/Book Day) at Eastern Washington University with an afternoon of songs, activities and stories! The wonderful celebration of children and books will take place 1-4 p.m., Thursday, April 28, in the Curriculum Center at the JFK Library, on the Cheney campus.

Dia (El día de los niños/El día de los libros) is a celebration of children, families and reading, and emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds. The Dia celebration includes crafts, songs, rhymes and books to celebrate Latino culture, as well as displays, refreshments and handouts.

EWU students from MEChA EWU Student Group (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano/a de Aztlan) will share their skills with children ages 4-9 years old. Contact the library if you have a group of children who would like to attend. Drop-ins of small groups with family or caregivers are welcome as well.

For more information on this celebration contact Nadean Meyer at (509) 359-4262, ewumeyer.blogspot.com, nmeyer@ewu.edu, or at research.ewu.edu/dia.
