Maurer leads Cheney girls to eighth-place finish at Mooberry Relays

Cheney girls' head coach Tom Stralser used two words to sum up his team's work in their first meet back from spring break – “not bad.” The Blackhawks had some good performances in scoring 30 points for an eighth-place finish last Saturday at the annual Mooberry Relays, hosted by Rogers High School and held at Gonzaga Prep's track and field.

“We're starting to put a few things together,” Stralser said.

The Blackhawks were led by Shelby Maurer. The senior won the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.60 seconds, and the 400-meter dash in 1:00.40. Her time in the 400 is the fourt...
