Cardinals earn split in GNL doubleheader with West Valley

Medical Lake opened the Great Northern League portion of their schedule by earning a split with West Valley last Saturday in a doubleheader played in Millwood. The Cardinals won the opener 7-4 but were held to just one hit at the Eagles won the second game, 15-1.

The Cardinals used the three hits of Ryan Owens and scored in their first four innings on the way to the victory in the opener. Ryan Wagner got the win, going five innings while Ronnie Miller got the save by shutting down the Eagles in both the sixth and seventh innings.

In game two West Valley took advantage of six Medical Lake errors, scored three runs in both the first and second innings before blowing things open with a 7-run third. Owens got the lone Cardinal hit in the game that went just five innings.

The Cardinals visit Colville on Saturday in a noon doubleheader and are home next Friday at 2 p.m. versus Pullman.
