Cheney city, school district might want to consider a swap

Are we the only ones who find it sadly ironic that the Cheney School District will soon tear down a 31-year-old middle school building while the Cheney City Council is moving forward with spending approximately $550,000 in insurance money to rebuild/restore (to a degree) the Wren Pierson Building?

We find ourselves grieving the impending loss of the existing middle school because it is a perfectly good building.

In our wishful thinking, we wonder whether the city and the school district could swap land allowing the city to end up with...
