    John McCallum, Editor|Updated Mar 17, 2017

First, thawing snow transformed the west side of Cheney's field from wet ground to a soggy, muddy bog. The conditions forced officials to move the sideline in about six yards, narrowing that...

    PAUL DELANEY, Staff Reporter|Updated Mar 16, 2017

Once upon a time, back when airlines like Northwest Orient and West Coast flew out of Spartan quarters on the east side of Geiger Field - and smoking on flights was the norm - the joke was "You can't get there from here." No longer is that the case as over the past few months three major carriers have begun nonstop service out of Spokane International Airport to notable hub destinations. American is the most recent airline to announce future direct connections out of Spokane....

    AL STOVER, Staff Reporter|Updated Mar 16, 2017

WWE will have their flagship event, Wrestlemania 33, is a few weeks away and I’m excited. For us pro wrestling fans, the event is kind of like the Super Bowl or the Academy Awards. As part of the festivities, WWE holds its annual Hall of Fame ceremony, honoring performers and managers who have made their mark in the wrestling business. The Hall of Fame also has a celebrity wing that recognizes celebrities, including President Donald Trump, that have made memorable appearances on WWE programming. In the last few years, the W...

  • Eagle men still playing

    PAUL DELANEY, Staff Reporter|Updated Mar 16, 2017

Like cuts of steak, or kinds of wine, some are better than others. Many might agree, any of each tastes good. So it might be, too, when it comes to the postseason in basketball. While the Eastern Washington men don’t get to chomp into hoop’s version of Filet Mignon — the NCAA Tournament — they do get to savor the taste of playing past the Big Sky regular season for a third consecutive year. That game took place last night (Wednesday, March 15) when the Eagles faced off in Lara...

The normally astute veteran track and cross country coach, however, got tripped up by Mother Nature at the Richland Invite last Saturday. "It was windy, rainy, cold and miserable," Blankenship said. "We go down there hoping we get warm weather." While the weather was not very pleasing, the results were for...

    PAUL DELANEY, Staff Reporter|Updated Mar 16, 2017

(Editor's note: This is the second in a two-part series on Cheney's marijuana manufacturing business, Pure Joy.) As Ted Youngs sees it, he can look towards the future of the business he runs for the family with a what if or a what can be attitude? He's chosen the latter when discussing Pure Joy, the marijuana production facility located in the Cheney Commerce and Industrial Park. The company opened in May 2015, the idea of former Eastern Washington University professor Bill...
