Ronald L Hughes was born in Peoria, Ill., to John E. Hughes and Dorothy Robinson Hughes on Dec. 30, 1938, and passed away on Apr. 8, 2021, in Peoria, Ariz.

Ron graduated with a BA from the University of Illinois and served his country in the United States Navy, Firefighter Division. In his early career, Ron was employed by highly recognized graphic arts companies. In 1969, he broke away from being an employee in the corporate world and moved to Denver where he founded Unigraphics, Inc. which he owned and operated until his passing in 2021. A graphic artist of the highest caliber, Ron worked with numerous nationally and internationally recognized corporations in the private and government sectors. He was the recipient of many awards over his multi-decade graphics design career.

Ron had a keen love of high-performance motorbikes and fast sports cars beginning in his teenage years. He frequented the Daytona motorcycle races for many years. He and his wife enjoyed attending race car and motorbike races in Colorado and Illinois as well as Jackson Barrett auctions in Scottsdale, Ariz. Vacations were often spent traveling by car to visit family and long-time friends across the country.


Ron is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Ardith. He is additionally survived by daughter Tanya (Jude) Boland, granddaughters Brittney Boland and Kirsten Merritt (Kyle), and great-grandchildren Madissyn and Hunter. The extended family includes stepdaughter Colette (Charles) Knox, granddaughters Chloe, and Carley; stepson Antonio Aiello; stepdaughter Laura (Corey) Kroetsch, grandchildren Sonja and Beckett; stepson David Berg (Christine), grandson Odin.


A Celebration of Life will be held Jun. 10, 2023, 10:00 am, at the Cheney United Methodist Church, Cheney, Wash.
