Helen Elizabeth (Dirks) Jordan, 94, of Cheney passed away Tues., Feb. 7, 2023 at North Central Care and Rehabilitation, Spokane, after a short illness. A family graveside service will be held at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Helen was born Jul. 10, 1928 at home on the family farm east of Lamont to Jake and Louise (Borth) Dirks. She went to Lamont School and graduated in 1946. On Jan. 16, 1950 Helen married Frank Aubrey Jordan of Winona. After dating 3 months, they eloped to Coeur D'Alene and were married in the Christian Church. The couple lived in many places and settled on a ranch south of Cheney in 1953.

Helen was busy being a mom. Dale was born in 1951, Alfred (Buzzy) in 1952 and Beverly in 1954. To make ends meet, she took in ironing and sewing. Many items were sewn, crocheted, embroidered and quilted. Taking care of the garden and chopping wood into her 90's. She enjoyed going to Williams Lake for picnics with family and friends. For the past 14 years, her greatest love was her dog, Lady.

Helen is survived by her son Dale Jordan of North Plains Ore. and daughter Beverly (Randy) Kile of Pine City, Wash. Six grandchildren, Karen (David) Edwards of Maple Valley, Wash., Cheryl Kono of Ephrata, Wash., Ken (Jessica) Kile of Pine City, Russell (Jenna) Jordan of Hillsboro, Ore., Scott Jordan of Edmonton, Alberta Canada, and Melanie (Wes) Brown of Pittsburgh, Pa. Nine great grandchildren: Logan, Aidan and Ethan Edwards, Tyler, Spencer and Ellie Kono, Devin and Mason Kile, and Jack Jordan. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 2003, son Buzzy in 2011, sister Lorraine Shawgo and brothers Clinton and Clarence Dirks.

The family suggests memorial gifts be made to Spokane County Fire District 3 at 10 S. Presley Drive, Cheney, WA 99004.
