Operation Christmas Child

Dave and Mickey Smith

Thank you to everyone in the congregation for helping this year with Operation Christmas Child, those who donated shoe box items, whether bought or made; those who brought their recycled items; those who contributed to the fund raiser; those who gave of their time in making and/or filling pencil bags, notebook paper tubes, hygiene bags, putting games and/or kits together, making and/or filling various drawstring bags, etc., ETC., ETC!! There is NO WAY we could have filled 75 shoe boxes without the help of SO MANY. I hope those who came to the Packing Party enjoyed themselves. As a church we gave 112 shoe boxes! That is 112 children who will feel the love of Jesus and hear the Gospel.

Thank you also to those who gave of their time during National Collection Week at the Drop-Off Center. We had 14 people who donated 155 hours over those 8 days. During that time, we packed 595 shoe boxes into 38 cartons. We also had 3 very full “filler” cartons. Those items will be used at the Processing Center to help fill some “lighter” boxes or to replace items that have to be removed.

We are looking forward to seeing how God provides next year. If anyone has any ideas for next year, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you again.

Cheney Congregational Church

Life comes at us fast and we don’t always have answers to life’s biggest problems. This Sunday we will explore how God meets us in our uncertainty through the lens of Mary’s story.

We are a community of neighbors who seek and serve Jesus and who strive to create a place where anyone, regardless of their sexuality, gender expression or race can find community and feel welcomed. We hold as a permanent conviction that each person is treasured in the eyes of God. We welcome and stand with all who gather into the safety and fellowship of our community. No matter where you are on your journey through life, you are welcome here.

We welcome you to join us on Sunday mornings for in-person worship at 10am and fellowship time afterwards. Masks are optional. Kids have their own “Discovery Team Time” during our services.

Cheney Congregational Church has started a free pantry just outside the front doors of the church. Please feel free to take or leave food for yourself and others.

We are also involved with Feed Cheney for a free meal and grocery distribution which will be on Monday, December 19th at 5:30 at the Wren Pierson building in Cheney located at 615 4th st. No documentation or demonstration of need required.
