Blackhawks bounced in opener
Cheney’s dream of a deep run in the playoffs as in 2021 got a quick wake-up call.
The sixth-seeded Blackhawks (8-9-0) were defeated 2-0 by No. 2 Mead (13-0-0) Oct. 25 in the first round of district playoffs. This year the first round was single elimination. Mia Gardner scored twice for the Panthers in the 28th and 62nd minutes.
“We played well and created some chances,” head coach Nels Radke wrote in an email. This was the final game as a Blackhawk for Emersyn Heuett, Kaiti Low, Kensie Roller and Elliana Barden.
