Joanne Craner

Beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Joanne Craner, 87, passed peacefully on Oct. 16, 2022.

Born in Bowdon, N. D.; Joanne moved a few times before settling in Cheney, Wash. when she was 8 years old. She was married to her husband Cecil Charlton for 33 years and they raised 3 children. She worked for the Eastern Washington University bookstore, with the last 25 years of her dedication as the manager. After the passing of her first husband, she met and married Merle Craner (31 years together). They were avid travelers and active members in their church.

Joanne will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Merle; children: John Charlton, Brian Charlton and Gail Benner (Bill) and step children: Nancy (Terry) Meyers, Daniel (Margaret) Craner, Edward (Dianna) Craner and Karen Craner. She also leaves behind her 14 grandchildren: Nicolas, April, Amanda, John Jr., Allison, David, Bethany, Joy, John, Jim, Emily, Jacob, Nicholas and Nathan in addition to numerous great grandchildren.

Joanne is survived by her siblings: Phyllis Ball and Lynn Boyes. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Cecil Charlton; parents: Richard and Ellen Boyes; and siblings: Margaret, John and Glen. We are all grateful for Joanne's long happy life.

Graveside service will be held on Nov. 7 at 12:30pm at Spokane Memorial Gardens with a Celebration of Life ceremony to follow at the Cheney Church of the Nazarene at 2:30pm.
