Letter to the Editor

CHENEY - An opinion piece was recently printed on these pages titled “Democracy is on the ballot this November”. I find it interesting that Patty Murray, her fellow Democrats, and her supporters continue to claim that “democracy is on the ballot” suddenly, considering their silence in the past.

Democracy was in danger, when the Clinton campaign commissioned the creation of a false report concerning Donald Trump. Democracy was in danger, when Federal Courthouses were attacked, set on fire, damaged and law enforcement officers were injured.

Democracy was in danger, when her former leader, Harry Reid, knowingly and willingly lied about Mitt Romney’s taxes to win an election for Barack Obama. Democracy was in danger, when the Democrats, in this election cycle, interfered in Republican primaries by funding Republicans that they deemed easier to beat.

Democracy was in danger, when a compliant media and federal bureaucracy refused to report on the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop, even though there were people who went on the record stating that it was true information (something that nobody was every able to do with the Steele dossier).

Democrats have a very selective sense of danger to our democracy and our way of life. As best as I can determine the concerns only arise when they can use them to their advantage.

The control of our Federal Government has been in the hands of the Democrats for two years. I understand why Ms. Murray needs to fear monger about risks to democracy. It’s all she has.

In less than two years of complete Democrat control they have been able to create an economy that has shrunk for the last two quarters. Institute legislation that has created the highest inflation in 40 years.

They have been able to make us energy dependent again so that we can grovel at the feet of dictators for our supplies and literally harming our national security.

They eliminated a legal and successful set of policies that was limiting illegal immigration into the U.S.A. As a swing vote in the Senate, Ms. Murray could have negotiated for policies that would have been more successful for the citizens of the US. Several other Democrat Senators did and in the process managed to limit the damage done by Democrat policies. But Ms. Murray did not stand up and work for better legislation.

We are not better off as individuals or as a country then we were two years ago. We deserve better government from independent and forward-thinking people. Ms. Murray shows no ability or desire to provide such representation.
