CHENEY - Erikka Soto, Cheney 24, is our new receptionist at the front office. She works with the classified section of all the papers as well as obituaries. “Big change for me, the environment is positive and welcoming. I always have a smile on my face. I am a bit of an extrovert, and my coworkers are supportive of that.”

Originally from Rock Spring, WY. Where she lived with her father and mother, Mario and Fredann Soto, she moved here in 2018 to get her BA in Psychology from Eastern Washington University. She is now pursuing a Masters in Sports Psychology. Her brother, Alex, attends classes here at Eastern.

Erikka says Cheney reminds her of home, and that everyone is “accessible and friendly” which is comforting to her.

Milena Almanza, Cheney 19, started as our new advertising and sales representative Sept. Sixth, 2022. “I’ve learned a lot of new things. It was a big jump, really, but I love learning opportunities.” Meet with locals to offer them advertising opportunities. Lincoln County, Cheney, Ritzville. Moved here a year ago from Centralia, WA.

A student and EWU, majoring in marketing, minoring in sports management and Spanish. Loves sports, grew up watching football. High school, took a marketing class, Vice President of the FBLA in high school. In future I want to market for a professional sports team.

“I like Cheney because it felt welcoming and warm, not hectic. It is so easy to make connections and friends. It all reminds of home.”

Lela MacArthur, Edwall, began working as one of our new Front Office staff members at the Cheney Free Press Monday 19th, 2022. “The friendly and easy-going atmosphere the staff provide is one of my favorite things about working here.” MacArthur said.

Lela has taken over subscriptions and data entry for all our publications, from Cheney and Medical Lake, to Airway Heights and the Spokane Valley.

Born and raised in Spokane, Lela now lives in Edwall, just south of Medical Lake. A hard worker, Lela got her first job at the Review right after high school. After that, she worked at Allied Security and continued there for many years until she found the Cheney Free Press.

A welcome addition to our staff, Lela will help make the Cheney Free Press a resource for our wide readership.
