Sheriff's Office welcomes new deputies

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office recently welcomed three new deputies, from left, they are Ty Laboy, Whitnie Whitman and Paul Grady Jr.

SPOKANE – Three new deputies have joined the Spokane County Sheriff's Office.

Ty Laboy, Whitnie Whitman and Paul Grady Jr. were sworn in Tuesday, Aug. 16, by Undersheriff John Nowels.

Laboy, 26, was born in San Antonio, Texas. He and his family moved to the area in 2000. 

He grew up in Spokane Valley and graduated from West Valley High School in 2014. 

He was previously employed with Spokane County Detention Services and has served in the Washington Army National Guard since 2019.  

Whitman, 29, grew up on a family farm in Whitman County and attended Pullman High School.  She gradu...
