Blackhawks Fall Against Central Valley

Both squads are now 2-8 on the season

SPOKANE – The Cheney Blackhawks traveled to Central Valley on Tuesday Jan. 11 to face the Central Valley Bears for an away match up with around 100 fans in attendance according to Bears reporter Kim Griego on Max Preps. Both Blackhawk squads were defeated by the Bears – the boys lost 79 to 67 while the girls lost 21 to 57.

The boys were competitive all throughout the first quarter, at one point they tied it up with the Bears. But once the second quarter began the Bears’ offense started to trickle and by the end of the game was roaring past the Blackhawks defense. After the Bears scored 43 points in the first half, they coasted through the next two quarters.

The girls lost their respective matchup as well. The offense struggled to get much going all game and they were playing catch up from the opening tip-off. Tatum Sloan, Jr. and Shauna Elliot, Jr. had strong performances, but it wasn’t enough to stay competitive.

These teams first matchup went down in the Cheney High School and Central Valley won those matchups as well as the Bears have now swept the Blackhawks on the season. While one of the Blackhawks most recent matchups against Ridgeline was cancelled, they’re still preparing to play Gonzaga Prep on Friday January 14.
