Cheney Ice Cream Murderer Sentenced

David Pettis will spend the next 25 years in prison

SPOKANE – David Pettis, a former Cheney resident, was just sentenced to 25-years in prison for murdering his wife by poisoning her ice cream float by spiking it with a deadly dose of hydrocodone pain medication. Judge Mike Price said reiterated the coroner’s report that stated Peggy Pettis had over ten-times the therapeutic dose in her system. Judge Price have a heartwarming speech about the women Peggy Pettis was and how her happy retirement was stolen from her all because David Pettis acted selfishly wanted to be in another relationship with a different woman.

Peggy Pettis’s family spoke during the sentencing hearing and all asked for the judge to bring down a harsh sentence of life in prison. The Pettis’s daughter was the sole person who asked for leniency for her father because she didn’t want this entire situation to cost her both parents. While she respected the juries decision, she still doesn’t believe her father murdered her mother, however she did admit that the circumstantial evidence made her father look unequivocally guilty.
