The Cheney Blackhawks boys’ and girls’ varsity teams opened up their season at home in the Cheney High School gymnasium. The girls began the night with a hard-fought blowout loss to West Valley 83 to 37. They finished the night with 40 rebounds, three assists, and zero blocks. They also made 31 percent of their field goals, 47 percent of their free throws, and had zero three pointers on the night.
