CHENEY – The area saw a small snowstorm move into the area with minimal accumulation. The roads became very slick however as the snow packed onto already wet roads. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration showed the West Plains only receiving trace amounts of snow with up to an inch in some areas. The area is expected see more snow this weekend. Here is the one week forecast for Cheney.

Thursday Dec. 9

There is a slight chance of snow (20%) in the area after 10 a.m. and skies will be partly sunny, with a high of 34. Ten mile per hour winds will come into the area from the southwest. Skies will become mostly cloudy into Thursday night and the area will see a low of 21 degrees.

Friday Dec. 10

Friday will start with a little sunshine and the area will see a high of 34, but skies will transition into cloud cover by the evening and a low of 28 degrees. There is a 30 to 50 percent chance of snow Friday night.

Saturday Dec. 11

Saturday will bring a 70 percent chance of precipitation. This will be a wintry mix of snow and that will turn into sleet and rain in the afternoon. So morning drives might take a little longer, but it will warm up to 37 in the afternoon. Rain and some sleet will continue to fall with breezy conditions into Saturday night with a 60 percent chance of precipitation and the area will see a low of 31 degrees. Rain and snow expected overnight.

Sunday Dec. 12

Sunday will bring morning clouds and a 30 to 50 percent chance of snow showers. Later in the day the area will see partly cloudy skies and a high of 38 degrees. Cloud cover will take the sky moving into Sunday night, and temperatures will drop to 30. Chance of snow showers will remain 30 to 50 percent through Sunday night.

Monday Dec. 13

Monday will bring a 40 to 50 percent chance of snow with a high of 38 degrees and mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures will drop to 28 overnight with a 40 percent chance of snow.

Tuesday Dec. 14

Snow may continue into Tuesday morning with a 40 percent chance of snow showers and mostly cloudy skies. The clouds are expected to clear by mid afternoon with a high of 33 degrees. Temperatures will get a little bit colder Tuesday night and drop to 25 with partly clear skies.

Wednesday Dec. 15

Wednesday will bring cloudy skies throughout the day with a high of 34 degrees. No precipitation is expected and the low for Wednesday night is 29.
