Sugar Mamas to offer baked goods in Cheney

CHENEY — A new bakery has opened in the city just in time for the holidays.

Sugar Mamas Bakery recently opened at 1831 First St., owner Stacia Harrington said.

Harrington, 34, is a long-time resident who said she wanted a catchy name for the bakery.

“It (Sugar Mamas) was just a clever name my husband and I came up with,” she said. “When thinking of what to call it, you know my first reaction was to obviously have sugar in there... and he came up with Sugar Mamas.”

Harrington said she decided to open Sugar Mamas about a year ago and she was able to start the business without any loans.
