Medical Lake moves forward with 2022 budget

Last updated 11/18/2021 at 5:31pm

MEDICAL LAKE – Medical Lake council moved forward with the 2022 city budget after hearing the first reading on November 16. The public hearing was opened at 6:36 p.m. and no public comment was made, so the public hearing was closed one minute later.

The second reading regarding the budget will be held during the next council meeting on December 7.

City administrator Doug Ross said “the budget looks inflated because of the American Rescue Plan Act funding,” and no major adjustments were needed.

Ross also said the current Executive Assistant Cherry Costello will be retiring early next year, and Medical Lake needs to fill that position quickly so a new assistant can be hired and trained.

The city was also awarded an annual grant for public defense funding, and Medical Lake was awarded $4,000 this year, and council quickly moved and approved the acceptance of these funds.
