SPANGLE – The Liberty Lancers girls volleyball team is headed to the Class 2B state volleyball tournament in the Yakima Valley SunDome.

The local girls are seeded No. 13 and will open state play against No. 4-seed Goldendale at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11.

The Lancers earned a spot in the state tournament after sweeping both the Asotin Panthers and the Jenkins (Chewelah) Cougars in the final two games of the District 7 tournament Thursday, Nov. 4.

The Lancers opened district with a 3-2 win over Jenkins, but lost in the semifinals to Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna, 3-2.
