Blackhawks compete at state

Thornburg paces Cheney runners

PASCO – Three Cheney Blackhawks competed Saturday in the state cross country meet at Sun Willows Golf Course.

In the boys, 5,000-meter race, senior Dylan Thornburg posted the fastest time for the Blackhawks.

Thornburg completed the course in 17:21.50, finishing 80th overall in the Class 3A boys event.

Teammate senior Luke Hurd ran the same course in 19:06.30, finishing 190th of the 204 runners that qualified for the state meet.

Samantha Habegger was the only Blackhawk runner in the girls 5,000-meter event.

She completed the course in 20:36.00, for 82nd place; 193 girls qualified for the race.
