D'Metri Malik Strait "Meech".

Oct. 14, 2002 - Sept. 29, 2021

We are sad to announce the passing of our beloved son D'Metri Malik Strait "Meech". He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer in the middle of his senior year at Cheney High School. Meech would not allow this to break his spirit or take away his infectious smile. He fought bravely till the end, passing away at the age of 18 on Sep. 29, 2021, after a very tough 8 ½ month battle with cancer. Meech was born on Oct. 14, 2002, in Anchorage Ala. and since has affected lives from one corner of the United States to the other.

Growing up in a military family, he went to school making friends from Ala. to Ariz. to Colo. to Fla. and finally being laid to rest in Spokane Wash. Meech did not want Cancer to define him but instead insisted he would beat the disease and begin his dream of joining the Air Force hoping to be stationed overseas. Meech was honorably Certified (Official US Army orders) signed by a US Army COL, as an EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) technician and was pinned his EOD badge by his father.

Meech enjoyed football, playing for the Cheney Blackhawks, both his freshman and sophomore years and graduated from Cheney High School, June 11, 2021. But like most kids, his favorite pastime was playing video games and hanging out with his siblings and his best friends.

D'Metri is survived by his parents; Tammie & Alex Paget, Louis & Tania Bonner, Siblings; Madelyn "Nicole" McBride, Derick Strait, Tommy Paget, Dyllan Strait, Matthew Paget, Hailey Paget, Derrick Linthicum, Louis Bonner, Donte Bonner, Grandparents; Rand & Jenny Paget, Louis & Betty Bonner, Glenn "JR" Kent, Teresa Seay, Great grandfather; Darriel Gardner, Aunts & Uncles; Reanna Norris, Heath Henriks, Justin Gardner, Laurie Gardner, Bob & Michell Paget, Regina & Ernest Jackson, Meka & Courtland Bonner, Best friends; Josh Glover, Caleb Mullan, Alyssa Lien, Nicole Green, Ally Dean and many more as well as many cousins that loved him.
