Eastern women finish third

ANACONDA, Mont. – The Eastern Washington University golf team finished the Battle at the Old Works golf tournament in third place Tuesday, Sept. 28.

The team shot 948 strokes in three rounds at the Old Works Golf Club.

Jaelin Ishikawa led the squad to finish third overall with 233 strokes while Morgan Baum shot one stroke behind Ishikawa at 234 and tied for fourth place.

“We made a little run today in near impossible weather conditions. We had the low team score of the day, and Morgan shot the low individual score of the day,” Coach Brenda Howe said. “I’m proud of how the ladies responded after a rough day yesterday.

“We were playing today to beat the snow, and the conditions were less than ideal on the last seven holes, relatively speaking in that regard, we finished well.”

The Eagles shot 314 in the first round, 315 in the second and finished with 319 strokes in round three.

Additionally, Eastern Washington shot 24 strokes ahead of fourth place Idaho State.

The Eagles return on Oct. 5-6 to compete in a Grizzlies Match Play in Missoula, Mont.
