Cheney soccer beats CV Bears

CHENEY -- The Cheney soccer team won a dazzling 3-2 shootout victory at home on Monday evening against the Central Valley Bears.

The first half of the game started strong for the visiting team as CV’s Zoe Crockett hammered in a goal at the 7-minute mark, with the aid of Alexis Henry. Crockett continued her scoring frenzy 20 minutes later with another goal, curtesy of a great pass from Gracie Reidt.

Late in the game, the tides turned in Cheney’s favor as Megan Collins helped Ellie Barden knock in the Blackhawk’s first score of the night. In the waning minutes of the game Cheney’s Grace Hammermeister fired a penalty kick into the net, tying the score, and sending them into a 2-2 shootout.

Senior Sydney Reagan, who saved 4 shots in regular play, replicated the performance, and stopped a remarkable 5 shots to win the game 3-2.
