SPOKANE — September is Library Card Sign-up Month and the perfect time to get a library card for kids heading back to school. Spokane County Library District offers library cards at no cost, cards that open up a variety of opportunities for their users, beginning with access to books, CDs, DVDs and magazines.

The district’s Digital Library has online resources to download books, do research, find a tutor, take online classes, read magazines and more. Library cards and everything you can do with it awaits. Get started at www.scld.org/get-library-card.

In September, the public can also try something new when signing up for a library program. Here’s a list of upcoming programs:

Picture Book Chat: For adults.

Online Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1–2 p.m.

STARS Training: Just the Facts: Informational Books for Preschoolers


2 STARS credits. For adults.

Online Saturday, Sept. 18, 10 a.m. – noon.

Trivia: Aardman Animations. For all ages.

Online Friday, Sept. 17, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Paying for College: FAFSA, WASFA, Scholarships & More. For adults & teens.

Online Monday, Sept. 20, 6 – 7 p.m.

Putting Your Garden to Bed Ahead of Spring. For adults.

Online Saturday, Sept. 25, 11 a.m. – noon.

Medicare Open Enrollment Workshop. For adults.

Online Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1 – 2 p.m.

Volunteer Training for National Voter Registration Day. For adults.

Online Saturday, Sept. 18, 2 – 3 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 21, 11 a.m. – noon.

National Voter Registration Day. For adults.

All Libraries (in person), Tuesday, Sept. 28, during open hours.

SCORE Business: Calculated Risks for Business. For adults.

Online Thursday, Sept. 16, 12 – 1:30 p.m.

Online Storytime – Live, For kids ages 2–5 and their families.

Online Thursday, Sept. 2 – Sept. 30, 6:30 – 7 p.m. and Friday Sept. 3 – Sept. 24, 9:30 – 10 a.m.
