Amy Louise Blount

March 1, 1951 – May 10, 2021

Amy Louise Blount was born March 1st, 1951 in Minneapolis, Minn. to Les & Margaret Gittins. She passed away May 10, 2021 at the Cheney Care Center, God's good angels came to receive & relieve her of her decades-long chronic and nightmarish pain. There were many trips to emergency rooms, intensive care, and week-long stays at Spokane hospitals. Before and during all of this she had ascended to a very high level of great importance. She was a loving, nurturing mother, full of endless love, caring, kindness and compassion. When she and her husband Tony of 49 years suffered through many years of poverty, Amy would go to the cupboard, open it and say, "What am I going to feed to the children?" of course being the amazing mother that she was, she ate less so they could eat more.

Growing up, Amy was a blessing to her parents, as they both worked, taking very good care of her sisters. She did the cooking, cleaning, laundry and everything else needing to be done. Amy excelled at everything she did. She was captain of her high school basketball team. She had a Mensa level IQ which enabled her to achieve A's in all subjects.

In 1970 she graduated from the Air Force Administration School in Biloxi, Miss, with the highest grades ever achieved.

Every year for decades, Amy would create and sew beautiful 18-inch doll clothing. With these doll clothes she would donate 20 dolls with magnificent ensembles of dresses, hats, scarves, purses and much more, bringing real joy to children still to this day.

In March 2018, Amy spearheaded and founded the West Plains Angels 501C-3 non-profit service organization dedicated to enriching the quality of the Cheney, Medical Lake, Airway Heights and Spangle communities. The West Plains Angels serves others and enriches the community by providing financial benefits and promotional services. Some of those that the West Plains Angels have been blessed to benefit are Feed Cheney, Cheney High School Band, CHS Robotics team, Cheney Community Church, Cheney Awana, Cheney VFW Post 11326, Feed Medical Lake, Medial Lake Food Bank, Gold Star Sponsors of the Medical Lake High School Robotics team, Medical Lake High School Student Body, EWU Food Pantry, Airway Heights Volunteer Fire Department, Spangle Food Bank and Awana.

Amy is preceded in death by our beloved son, Brandon Gene Blount , who was a Washington State high school chess champion, Amy's cherished grandfather and grandmother, Fergus and Elenor O'Connor, her father and mother, Les and Margaret Gittins, and her beloved Aunt Colleen and Uncle Tom. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Tony Blount, her daughters Talana Schwartz and Tutti Hodge, Granddaughters Chyla and Kaitlynn and grandsons Key, Joshua and Caleb and many nieces and nephews, her most loved sisters Beth Cook and Joann Fretwell.

As we go forward, Amy's family, friends and supporters will continue to help, support and promote Amy's service organization, WPA. In death, just as in life, Amy will be able to give kindness and generosity to all. Amy's favorite saying was, "Life is a gift, give more."

Amy was one of God's beautiful earth angels. She is now God's glorious angle in heaven. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the West Plains Angels at Banner Bank in Cheney.
