Kenneth Charles Mosbarger

Kenneth Charles Mosbarger, 74, went to be with the Lord, on 27 Oct. 2020 in Spokane, Washington. He was born on Nov. 29, 1945, in Kalispell, Mont. to Ole Gunderson and Eileen Tunks Mosbarger.

Kenny graduated from Flathead High School in 1964 and attended Flathead Community College. In 1966, he joined the U.S. Army and completed Basic Training at Ft. Polk, La, and Finance School at Ft. Benjamin Harris, Ind., where he was trained as a Finance Specialist. Following training, he was assigned to Ft. Belvoir, Va., followed by a deployment to the Republic of Vietnam from 1968-69. During his Vietnam tour of duty he was promoted to Specialist 5 and was assigned to Long Binh Post near Saigon.

Upon completion of his time in Vietnam, he elected to be honorably discharged from the Army and moved back to Kalispell. Kenny married Karen Joy Fisher in November of 1971. They lived in Kalispell where Kenny worked for the local telephone company until a labor strike caused them to move to Cheney, Washington in 1976. During this time, Charles and Marc were born and both were raised in Cheney.

Once their sons left home, Kenny accepted a promotion and company transfer to La Junta, Colo. Kenny retired from the phone company in 2003. Following retirement, Kenny worked as a county deputy with Bent County Correctional Facility. In the fall of 2016, Kenny and Karen moved back to Spokane to be near family and friends.

Kenny enjoyed playing baseball in his youth and held his friends in high regard. His family heard countless stories of his many friends and family memories.

Kenny also had a great appreciation for fishing and music. He loved his country and was very proud of his time in the Army, as well as the fact he served in the Vietnam War. He enjoyed coaching youth baseball and loved attending sporting events. He was always boastful of his two sons that made careers of serving their country in the U.S. Navy. In his later years, he took advantage of the worldwide travel afforded him by his sons' overseas assignments.

In his final years, at Sunshine Care Center, Karen visited him daily and ensured he received wonderful care. Karen's faith and commitment to Kenny during his battle with his terminal neurological disease never waivered and showed abundant strength.

Kenny was preceded in death by his brother, Russell Mosbarger. He is survived by his wife, Karen Mosbarger; two sons, Charles Mosbarger and wife Casey of Madison, Ala.; and Marc Mosbarger of Spokane; two granddaughters, Madison and Hannah Mosbarger as well as two sisters, Ramona and Nancy.

A graveside service will be held in early spring 2021 at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell, Montana. Specific details will be announced at a later date. The family suggests memorial gifts be given to "Cure PSP" at psp.org.
