AIRWAY HEIGHTS—Police detective Kelly Justice and Airway Heights Corrections Investigators identified Shane S. Goldsby, 25, as the suspect in a serious assault that resulted in the death of Robert Munger, 70, Wednesday.

Justice, detective Eric Flavel and officer Curtis Tucker were dispatched to Airway Heights Correctional Center June 2 in response to a claim that a serious assault had occurred, according to a release from the police department. Goldsby and Munger were inmates at the correctional center.

Munger died June 5 and was identified by the Spokane County Medical Examiner. His death resulted from a fractured skull stemming from blunt impact to his head by the suspect’s hands and feet and was ruled a homicide.

Murder charges have been filed on Goldsby, who has his first appearance in court today. He is currently being held in Spokane County Jail.
