Cheney Congregational Church

Greetings from Cheney Congregational Church. While we are still not yet meeting in person, we continue to offer at-home worship guides and sermons for you to watch or read from home.

This Sunday we will host a live-stream worship service on Zoom at 10 a.m., followed by a virtual coffee hour. If you would like to join this live Zoom service or receive our weekly at-home worship guides/sermons, then email pastor Matt Goodale at mattgoodale.ccc@gmail.com.

This Sunday Goodale will preach on “The practice of wearing skin.” As humans we are embodied beings. We are more than just a mind or a heart. Because we believe that God came down to become human and put on skin, that means that connecting with God is about more than just believing a certain set of beliefs or doctrines, it’s about living in our skin and engaging God and people with embodied living.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

Greeting from Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Although we cannot worship together as a congregation, we invite our community to access our website emmanuelcheney.org for weekly worship materials. If you should need pastoral support during this difficult time, please contact pastor Arianna Arends at 509-954-5886.

Emmanuel plans to gather for worship services outdoors two weeks after Spokane County opens Phase 3.

Our Free Community Pantry remains open to the community and all are invited to take what they need and leave what they can. Donations of non-perishable food and personal care items for all ages are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your continued support of this important ministry to our neighbors in need.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

A welcoming haven, nourishing all God’s people in body, mind and spirit. The Rev. Kathryn Lamphere is our vicar.

Our church is now open for service. We will be offering morning prayer on Sunday at 11 a.m.

All safety and sanitizing measures will be strictly observed, in particular wearing masks and keeping social distancing. All are welcome.

The memorial service in honor of our deceased priest, Rev. Christine Soule, is postponed and will be rescheduled later, to be held at St. John’s Cathedral. We will keep you informed.

For your contemplation: “Listen with the heart,” the Rule of Benedict says. Listen with feeling and listen with compassion. Listen with values and listen with concern. Listen for the truth of a thing, not for the power of a thing. Obey what makes your heart more human, not necessarily what makes your position more secure. Listen with a critical ear for the sound of the Gospel in everything you do, no matter who orders it, no matter how sacred the institution that demands it. Or else the Holocaust. Or else the Inquisition, Or else Watergate and Irangate. Or else power before truth.” Joan Chittister

United Methodist Church

This Sunday pastor Pat Sleeth will conclude a sermon series based on the book, “Three Simple Rules, A Wesleyan Way of Living.” The week’s rule and topic are “Stay In Love With God.”

An at home worship guide is available weekly for those not wanting or able to access the online worship service. You can download it from the church website at http://www.cheneyumc.org or contact pastor Alissa Bertsch at (509) 879-2278 if you would like be added to our mailing list for a hard copy.

We pray for health and safety for all as we worship apart but stay together in spirit.
