EWU teams top GPA

Eastern’s 283 student-athletes collectively have 3.35 grade point average in winter quarter of 2020

Eastern Washington University student-athletes recently concluded the winter quarter with a collective 3.35 grade point average, marking the 38th-straight quarter the Eagles have combined for a 3.0 average. Eleven of 12 Eastern programs had at least a 3.32 GPA, led by women’s soccer and women’s golf at 3.72.

Eastern’s 283 student-athletes included 37 posting a perfect 4.0 GPA (13 percent). An additional 99 had from between a 3.5 and 3.99 GPA, and 49 had between a 3.0 and 3.49. That’s 48 percent having at least a 3.5 GPA and 65 percent of all student-athletes achieving at least a 3.0.

The current streak dates back to the 2007 fall quarter. Eastern’s student-athletes had an all-time best 3.48 quarterly GPA in fall quarter of 2018.

All but one of EWU’s athletic programs finished the 2020 fall quarter with a team GPA of at least 3.00. After golf and soccer at 3.72, women’s tennis had a 3.55 and volleyball was at 3.52. The top men’s sport was men’s basketball with a 3.61 GPA, followed by men’s tennis at 3.57.
