Westwood Middle School sends seven to FBLA state conference

SPOKANE VALLEY – Westwood Middle School Future Business Leaders of America students received 24 trophies over seven events at the annual Northeast Regional Winter Conference held Feb. 6 at Spokane Valley Assembly of God Church.
The middle school had seven attending students place in the top-six in their events, advancing to the state Business Leadership Conference in Spokane this April. Three students placed in five events or more: Nico Rojas Nunez (six events), Kyleigh Greer (five events) and Gretchen Schmitt (five events), with Nunez taking first in Elevator Speech and second in Digital Citizenship and Introduction to Computer Science and Coding. Schmitt was second in Business Etiquette and Elevator Speech.
Also competing were Xavier Armstrong, Rashaun Engel, Dominic Gonzalez, Derumk Singeo and Eolt Singeo. This Winter Conference was attended by 21 different local high schools, three local middle schools and over 400 students.
The state conference takes place April 8 – 11 at The Grand Davenport Hotel in Spokane. Students who place in first at the state conference qualify to attend the FBLA National Leadership Conference June 28 – July 3 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
