Cheney Congregational Church

During this season of Lent the adult education class will encounter Jesus in the book of Luke. The class, which begins at 9 a.m., will follow a Lenten devotional that is optional. You are welcome to join even if you missed some sessions.

Pastor Matt Goodale is starting his series on “Journey to the Cross.” There is a children’s area in the Sanctuary. Service starts at 10 a.m.

The topic for the children’s Sunday service is “Jesus meets Zacchaeus” which will take place during the normal sermon March 8.

Next choir practice will take place on Sunday morning Mar 15 at 9 a.m.

Youth group (grades 6-12) meet at the United Methodist Church along with youth from other Cheney churches. They meet from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. with snacks provided on Sunday nights. All are welcome.

The men’s breakfast will be March 8 and March 22 at 7:45 a.m. at the Marketplace Bakery and Eatery, 1011 1st St. The women’s breakfast will be the same dates and time, but at Bene’s, 24 W. 1st St.

Lunch Bunch is a pot luck that meets at the church on Thursday, March 12 at noon.

Feed Cheney will take place on March 30 at 5:30 p.m. The location is the Wren Pierson Building at 615 4th St. Cheney. All are welcome to come for dinner and groceries.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

Emmanuel Lutheran Church invites you to worship with us this Sunday, March 8, at 10:30 a.m.

Mid-week Lenten services continue on Wednesday’s thru April 1. We begin with a soup supper at 6 p.m. followed by worship at 6:30 p.m. Please plan to attend.

Holy Week schedule:

Palm Sunday worship, April 5 at 10:30 a.m.

Maundy Thursday worship, April 9 at 6 p.m.

Good Friday worship, April 10 at 6 p.m. at Cheney Congregational Church. All are welcome to participate in these multi-church events.

Easter Sunday: Breakfast begins at 9 a.m. followed by Easter Festival worship at 10:30 a.m.

All are welcome to visit Emmanuel’s Little Free Library and Free Community Pantry located at 639 Elm St. Donations of books, non-perishable food, and personal care items for all ages are always accepted. Both are open to the community 24/7. Emmanuel thanks you for your continued support of this outreach ministry to our neighbors in need.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

We are a welcoming haven, nourishing all God’s people in body, mind and spirit. Holy Eucharist is at 11 a.m. Rev. Kathy Lamphere will preach and preside.

The memorial service in honor of our recently deceased priest, Rev. Christine Soule, will be held at St. John’s Cathedral on Saturday, March 28. Join us in sorrow and love.

Throughout Lent, March 4 – April 1, join us each Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. for soup, bread and book study.

Attention all college students: The Episcopal, Lutheran and Methodist Campus Ministry has begun again, meeting each Monday evening at 5 p.m. for dinner, study and worship. Please join us.

Fellowship breakfast is each Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. All are welcome.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall.

United Methodist Church

Please join us as we observe the second Sunday of Lent at the United Methodist Church this week. Pastor Pat Sleeth will continue a new sermon series, “Song of Shadows,” as we continue the Lenten journey. Worship is at 10 a.m. and all are welcome. A multi-age Sunday school class meets each week at 9 a.m.

The ecumenical youth group will meet this Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at the church. Snacks, study and fellowship for all 6-12 grade students.

At 6 p.m. Sunday evening the Nurturing Committee will be in charge of the adult fellowship at the church. There will be a potluck, movie night and pajama collection for the Union Gospel Mission. Plan to be a part of the fun and fellowship.
