Amazon opens hiring for more positions

SPOKANE – Amazon has announced it is hiring for almost two dozen lead positions at its new West Plains fulfillment center on Geiger Boulevard.

The company published a list of 23 positions on its website Feb. 18. The positions include fulfillment and operations management, medical and safety along with associate trainers, dock, shipping and receiving clerks, human resources, finance and more.

The company also posted positions in November, 2019 and will begin hiring for all positions closer to the projected opening date in late spring, early summer. Amazon officials have said they will be hiring more than 1,500 workers at the center, with a minimum starting wage of $15 an hour.

According to the website, preferred qualifications for the recent positions include an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, a year or more of leadership experience including in a similar warehouse environment. Applications must also be able to lift up to 49 pounds and stand and walk for shifts lasting up to 12 hours.

Amazon has said it could hire up to 3,000 workers during peak holiday season. Employees would work in conjunction with Amazon Robotics to pack and ship items from the 2.5 million square foot, $181 million facility.
