Liberty girls wrestle at Othello

Feltwell takes first at 115; Johnson second at 170

OTHELLO – The Liberty (Spangle) girls wrestling team finished 20th Saturday in the Lady Huskies Invite.

The Lancers girls came home with 56 team points, the best of any 1B/2B school in the competition.

The Top 5 teams were Hanford with 163 points, Sunnyside with 156.5, Othello with 116, Toppenish with 110 and Wapato with 101.

Maizy Feltwell brought home gold, topping the 115-pound class and Charlie Johnson was second at 170.

Feltwell remains undefeated this season.

She opened the tournament with a by then topped Iyazely Barraza of Othello, 7-1, to advance to the quarterfinal.

In the quarterfinal, she pinned Alexis Cleaver of Vale in 1:01. Feltwell followed that up by pinning Cami Anderson of Prosser in 1:54 in the semifinal.

In the championship, she edged Bianca Johnson of Moses Lake, 4-1, to take the gold.

Like her teammate, Johnson opened with a bye.

She then pinned her next three opponents: Jasmin Lopez of Ontario, Ore., in 2:00; Divinna Munioz of Quincy in 1:26; and Leslie Rodriguez of Othello in 8:29 (OT).

In the championship bout, she lost, 6-4, to Sierra Mason of Newport.
